During a lazy saturday afternoon perusing the isles at About Life Bondi junction, I ran into Lee, the author of Supercharged Foods, who introduced me to these amazing almonds. I was hooked at first bite. As an avid snacker I am always on the lookout for new and interesting products to tantalise my taste buds, but also be beneficial for my body. With an intense crunch, hint of sea salt and splash of apple cider vinegar, these almonds are the perfect pick me-up snack.
Aside from the taste, these activated almonds also pack a nutritional punch. Lee from Supercharged Foods explains how these almonds are a notch above the rest:
How are they made?
Almonds are soaked for 12 hours in filtered water. This deactivates enzyme inhibitors, which interfere with the absorption of proteins and nutrients and cause digestive distress for many people. Soaking nuts allows enzymes to neutralize phytic acid and break down complex starch, making them easy to digest. Nuts are then dehydrated at 49°C for 6 hours resulting in a nutrient-dense, enzyme-rich, raw snack.
Why so healthy?
Activated Almonds are infused with sea salt and ACV, making them a natural snack to boost metabolism and support immune system function. Sea salt contains 84 minerals, is vital for balancing sugar levels in the blood. ACV alkalinizes the body and is a natural bacteria-fighting agent. Almonds are a vitamin & mineral rich anti-inflammatory & help lower LDL cholesterol. For more info visit the website:

I personally live on nuts as a snack. If you opened my cupboard it would look like a squirrel was preparing for hibernation. But this squirrel also loves to share! Definately Almonds – I always have a bag of them in my desk drawer at work.
Almonds. Versatile & yummy!
Almonds are mine too because they are healthy and versatile, tasy eaten raw, or added to cakes and savoury foods. Packed with vitamins and relatively” cheap” calorie-wise compared to other nuts, and filling too!
Thanks for the ‘like!’
You’re welcome
Residents of Australia only *sigh* Now I wish I had an accent

Its too bad I don’t live in Australia! I think I will try my hand at making these Activated Almonds myself! Should be a good transition food for me as I come off my Juice Fast! Great informative blog! Thank you!
Thanks for finding my blog today! I love almonds and hope I can find these in the U.S. I am trying gluten-free…maybe forever, so I snack on almonds a lot!
You can also make your own if you are interested. Check out http://supercharged1.wordpress.com/2012/01/21/soaking-nuts-seeds/ for an informative post
I used to eat plain unsalted peanuts but moved on to almonds 6 months ago for the health benefits and haven’t looked back. I love the taste and look forward to my almonds as a snack each day at work
I like quick and easy snacks and almonds are my favourite nut snack. A banana and a handful of almonds keep me from feeling hungry until my break at work. Working night shift I don’t feel like anything to heavy so this has become my ultimate snack.
Banana and almonds, what a great power snack!
Huh…I’ve heard of soaking nuts but keep forgetting to google why/how to do it…great post!
And my favorite nut?…hate to be a bandwagoner, but definitely almonds! I love them straight-up raw and unsalted the best!
Right now almonds are my fave with walnuts and macadamias tying for a close second!
